A gifted conductor, concert organist and teacher, Janet Harms earned a scholarship to the renowned Juilliard School of Music and later earned her Doctorate from New York's Columbia University. Currently a professor at Azusa Pacific University and California Polytechnic University, Pomona, she inspires ensembles to enthusiastic excellence. She has conducted across America and the world. Some of the venues include Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, and Disney Hall, Los Angeles.

Under her leadership, Windsong combines outstanding vocal artistry with innovative programming, creating uniquely dynamic choral art. She has shaped a select group of musicians from the Southland into the vital and dynamic ensemble Windsong is today.

In addition to her accomplishments with Windsong, Harms has performed as a solo organist in more than 100 European concerts. She is presently Organist at Glenkirk Presbyterian Church in Glendora.



Paul Harms

Paul Harms, is Windsong's Assistant Director. He has sung in over 25 productions with the Los Angeles Opera. He has been an invited soloist in Europe and on both coasts of the United States. Mr. Harms is on the faculty of Chaffey High School in Ontario, California, and has built a splendid reputation with his private voice studio. He holds graduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting from California Sate University, Fullerton.

After several years touring with the Chorale as a featured trumpet soloist Dr. Gray accepted a post as the Director the Windsong Symphony. Dr. Gray has been a guest conductor, lecturer, clinician, freelance professional trumpet player, and is on the faculty of Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Gray obtained his degree from the University of Southern California.



Felix Macovei

Piano Accompanist


Windsong Accompanist, Felix Macovei, was born in Oradea, Romania and began to play the piano at the age of ten. During this early time of playing the piano, he won several junior competitions in Romania. He went to Vienna, Austria in the early 1990's where he took piano lessons with Dr. Dvorak Weisshaar at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Felix returned to Romania between 1993 and 1994, and to Austria in 1994. While in Vienna Austria he studied music pedagogy under Dr. A Teuflmayr and also J. Marian. Felix came to California in 2001 to serve as a pianist at the Romanian Baptist Church in La Habra. In 2002, Felix became an organ student of Dr. Harms and became Windsong's wonderful accompanist.

Kaori has been a member of Windsong Southland Chorale for six years and has provided many inspiring organ accompaniments to Windsong Chorale's concerts, including the performance at Disney Hall last season. She was the accompanist for the Windsong Greece Tour in the summer of 2004. Kaori earned a B.A. degree from Biola University as an organ student of Dr.Harms and is currently and organ graduate student at Azusa Pacific University. She is also the organist at First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton.



Joan Hamm

Windsong Handbell Choir


Ms. Hamm has been actively involved in church music and has studied handbell music extensively for over 20 years. She directed the bell choir at the Interfaith Memorial held at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2002 to commemorate the tragedy of 9/11. She currently directs St. Joseph's Handbell Choir in Upland, writing many of their handbell arrangements. She is also the Director of Foothill Vibrations, Handbell and Chimed Ensemble which performs throughout local communities.
